A great alternative to heading on a vacation alone is holidaying with your pet. This adds to your fun while elevating your worries. All you have to do is a little research and pre-planning.
If you have to fly to your desired holiday destination, you should check with your airlines what documents or certificates you will require for the flight. You do not want to reach the airport and then not be allowed to board the plane because you do not have the appropriate documents.
If you are flying with your pet, you will be required to crate the pet. Try and crate him before arriving at the airport as that is less chaotic for both you and the airport staff. You should also make sure to exercise him and take him for a pit stop before the journey. This will ensure he is not restless or uncomfortable during the journey. (Many recommend a fast of six hours before the trip, check with your vet) You should also make sure to take him for a walk the minute you reach the hotel.
Last but not least, make sure that you book a pet friendly hotel. You do not want to fly 10 hours only to find a less than pleasant welcome for you and your pet.
If you are taking a road trip, most of the same rules apply. The only additional rule is not to feed your pet while in the moving vehicle as they get motion sickness.
