Sunset Beach is at the end of Sunset Boulevard and as far south as you can go in the state. Last summer my children and I went to Sunset Beach, got a bite to eat at the snack bar and watched the flag lowering ceremony they do at sunset. This ceremony is beautiful as you watch the sunset and pay tribute to a Veteran.
The view is breathtaking as you walk along the Delaware Bay. A treat is to collect the Cape May Diamonds that wash up on the beach. Actually pieces of quartz, they come variety in sizes and colors and can be polished faceted to resemble a diamond. There is also, a unique gift shop and a miniature golf run by the Larry and Michelle Hume, the same family that puts on the flag lowering ceremony.
If you feel energetic, you can climb the 199 steps up to the top of the Cape May Lighthouse located on the way to the Sunset Beach. Your friends at Ponderosa Campground hope you enjoy Sunset Beach as much as we do!
